Pointers: Make a photo collage in Pixelmator on iOS

We were asked to do this: actually, we were asked how in the world you combine three images into one on the iPad's Photos app, and we were right back there with the answer: you can't. However, you can in moments on Pixelmator for iPad, and our initially disappointed reader visibly brightened. She's got that. Now she's also got her three photos combined into one, because we did a kind of Pointers Live.

That would make this the recorded repeat, but at least you can pause us and try the next bit. We're using Pixelmator 2.2.1 on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Interestingly, as much as we like the Pixelmator image editor, this apparently simple job brought up some limitations of this type of work on iPads.

Prepare your photos and your canvas

Our reader had her three photos -- all scanned at different resolutions, and in different sizes, but all now stored in Photos -- and what's most important is she knew exactly what she wanted the end result to look like. She wanted the three in a row, in a specific order, and with the first and last at an angle to the one in the middle.
